This series ‘Back Home’ captures the essence of what home meant to me at a time when I was moving to another country. We were told not to pack anything of value or anything that was irreplaceable. A big ask when everything you have or own has some importance or value attached to it! How do you decide which items to leave behind? Weeks of agonising followed but the packing was finally done. As we did not want to take any of our artwork, and as I had just started my photography, the images in this series were the ones I decided to print, frame and to hang on our new walls in our new house in the new country. During the next eight years these foggy morning photographs, the garden gate and the mother carrying a child were a constant and familiar reminder of the beauty of the home and family we had left behind.
